Sorry about the lack of updates. My two youngest got really sick and we've spent the last few weeks in toddler/preschooler hell. I think everyone is finally on the mend. I took a break from the sims during this. Hopefully, I'll be inspired. I've really been in the mood to do a house.
For those of you curious about my law school progress: I was admitted to University of Chicago (ranked 6 last year) a few weeks ago but am having a hard time getting excited about more cold weather. Then I was admitted to University of Texas yesterday. *sigh* He said it was 73 there. 73! It was like freezing cold here with an under 0F windchill.
I got an email from Harvard saying I was deferred, which basically means they are not rejecting me, but instead going to compare my application to the rest of the application pool. I sent in an additional essay.
Today I got a totally unexpected email from Yale that said:
"Thank you for your continued patience throughout the admissions process. We know your application has been complete for some time and that you are anxiously awaiting a decision. Your application is extremely competitive and is under active consideration. Based on the strength of your candidacy, you will either receive an offer of admission or an invitation to join our waitlist."
Wow. Ok. Granted, this is not an acceptance. But its also not a rejection. Yale is a crap shoot for everyone (unless you cured cancer or wrote the book Prozac Nation). I thought the next few months couldn't possibly get more stressful. I was wrong. Yale admits very few, if any, students from their waitlist, howevever, so keep your fingers crossed I get an outright admit in the next 2 months :).

I'll try to intersperse my Obama support with Sims content, just so you all don't feel like this is just a political blog. You may have already seen this, its been around a couple days. But I caught it again today and decided I wanted it on my page. Yes, we can.

Several months ago someone asked me for Sunshine. Until now, I forgot to package her up after the BV version of SimPE became available. I also decided to offer Josie for download. Keep in mind I use default replacement skins (Louis - Louis07Skin_Lin_Ed), eyes (HystericalParoxysm) and eyebrows (corvidophile2).
Just click on their pics to download.

This is such a big part of my life, I feel fake trying to keep it off my page. If it offends you so much that you don't want to visit my page, or download my stuff, so be it.
Twenty-one years ago when I graduated high school, and then went off to college, I chose government/political science as my major. I was active in organizations in college: president of the pre-law club and the Young Democrats, active in the Political Science Club. I did a semester long internship with the then Lt. Governor of Missouri, 4 hours away from my new husband. And I did these things not because I hate my country, as some in power now would have you believe of those who don't agree with them, but because I LOVE my country. I love everything our country was founded upon. I believe in our Constitution. When I went to Boston for my honeymoon of my 2nd marriage and visited the Granary Burial Ground, I cried when I saw Paul Revere's grave, overcome with emotion. I care deeply about this country, and its future.
But over the last 15 years I have become very disillusioned. The corporations own our politicians and make our laws, and not for the betterment of mankind, but for the betterment of their bottom line. I began to believe there was nothing that could be done. That the little guy was just screwed and out in the cold. Until I heard Barack Obama speak at the 2004 Democratic convention. I started to get excited, for the first time in a long while, about the possibility of change.
And now he's running. And he's speaking. And I believe he's the best hope to bring our country back to something we can be proud of. Not a country of fear and torture. But a country of hope and change for our children's future. Please listen to him speak.

On this day, I think it would be an appropriate way to remember the work of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., by listening to this inspiring and and hopeful speech by Barack Obama. My childrens' schools do not let out for this day, but I always call them in as excused.

Another Digital Scrap Page at Lake Crossing.
For those of you interested in my law school journey, here's an update. In addition to U Nebraska and ***** admittances in November, I was admitted to U Washington and U Virginia! Virginia was today and is accompanied by a Dean's Scholarship, typically at least half tuition, final determination to be made in March. Yay! ***** and Virginia are ranked comparably.

I've updated Lake Crossing Chronicles with a couple more Digital Scrapbook Highlights.
It appears my commenting system is broken again. I wish I could get my husband to code me one that WORKS!
