Passed the bar exam! Started my job 7 weeks ago. Still play Sims a couple hours a week. Changed my mind about not renewing my domain. It's only 8 bucks. Doesn't hurt to just leave it there.

August 11, 2011

So now I've taken the bar. The studying for which was truly excruciating. The actual test was less grueling. Now I'm just waiting to start my job in October. And to find out in November if I passed and am actually a lawyer! I post because I'm considering not renewing my domain, and taking my stuff down. So if you want something, grab it now!

May 10, 2011

Unbelievably, I finished my last law school final this morning. How did it get from 2007, to now, so fast? I'm looking forward to playing a bit of Generations during downtime while studying for the bar. Is there downtime while studying for the bar? I hope so!

March 14, 2011 Pi Day!

I've never seen this! I always wondered how the heck I was supposed to achieve the want "Move in with X" when it rolled up on my sims. Apparently, I always get them moved into my house so quickly, I've never seen this pop up before.

Supposedly EA Australia screwed up and put up these trailers. Or something like that. I don't know how long they'll be up, so watch them quick. Generations and Pets.

I can't believe its been so long since I wrote anything at all. I've been trying to get back into the Sims after not playing at all for over 2 months. I've decided on some sort of legacy style play with a twist. I'm going to do a different type challenge every generation. I'm starting off with a 10 kid challenge. My couple has 5 kids currently. When numbers 4 and 5 were born, the first three were still toddlers! I had to age one up early so she could sleep in a bed. The father is top of the business career, so luckily they have some money for house expansion and to hire a butler. The mother is trying to learn to make ambrosia. She is currently working on gardening and just harvested her first life fruit. I started with an empty Sunset Valley hood and am running with Twallan story progression to populate it. You forget how pretty the Sims 3 world can be. I took some lovely shots through sunset a few sim days ago.

I am so blah with the Sims now. I desperately want to play and enjoy the game, but to make it fun it feels like I need to spend days setting up a non-Maxis neighborhood, use story progression mods (I've played a bit with Twallan's), maybe do a challenge of some sort. By the time I learn to do all that, I won't have any time to play! *sigh*

I just discovered the coolest thing about Sims 3. Maybe other players have known and shared this. Since I don't ever enter Model type contests, I don't really know as much about taking pictures of the Sims themselves.

I happened to pause the game when my Legacy heir, Bane Swane (I swear it was actually an accident -- I'd forgotten his father, Argus', surname by the time he was born, at least consciously) was having a convo with someone at a party. And he was looking pretty cute and I wanted to take a picture. The woman he was talking to was in the way so I used moveObjects to move her, intending to just Esc the action and put her back. As I started moving my mouse around, however, with the woman still riding along, I noticed my heir turned, and moved his head to follow the woman, even though the game was paused.

I hope this is a helpful tip to those of you who enter contests requiring pics of sims.

This is my first try at uploading a sim. She's just in a .sim package, so just unrar and dump her into your SavedSims folder. I think anyway. Feel free to email me if it doesn't work out the way I planned (email link up top). Click the top photo to download Betsy. She was born in game and a granddaughter of a CAS sim. Her grandfather was a Maxis sim, and her father was a sim I downloaded.

Well, I just uninstalled the Sims 2. I don't have a lot of time for gaming anymore, and I'm having plenty of fun exploring Sims 3, and I needed the space on my hard drive. Yes, there are a lot of annoyances with Sims 3, but it's fun to have something NEW.

A new dorm! Simvention had a fun contest to build a dorm. I went a little afield of the instructions but this was the dorm in my head, French Quarter Scholars Dorm. Housing five students in relative luxury (almost pegged environment scores) and with some free space to add your own touches, FQS Dorm requires all expansions and Mansions and Garden. I also used a few things from Kitchen and Bath, but if you use clean installer, I don't think that will matter, just go replace the fridge and dishwasher. One year ago today, I watched Barack Obama's MLK day speech and began to believe that change really could come to America. That my hope of a better world, long since pounded to dust, could be reborn. I posted about it here. Now my dreams, and the dreams of millions of Americans, have come to pass. I love my country. I've always considered myself a patriot and today I am truly proud to be an American.

First post of 2009!

Joy and sorrow.

Fun new challenge at simvention, a modified Legacy challenge. Everyone starts with the same founder and we see how they all evolve.

December 29, 2008

Waahh! I can't convince my husband to drive us to the ocean. I've lived in the bay area for 4.5 months now, and have yet to go see the ocean. It's supposed to be sunny and almost 60 today.

All the family came out for Christmas. The last of them left yesterday. It was great seeing everyone and having everyone out here. Next year, though, I think it will be easier just for us to go back to Nebraska.

We went into the city Friday and Saturday. We did the Fisherman's Wharf, touristy thing, and shopping at the "swirly" mall (otherwise known as SF center). I had to buy a suit for (hopefully) upcoming interviews. Bloomingdales. OMG, even on sale I about had a heart attack. I spent more on one outfit than I probably have spent on my clothes for 5 years altogether.

Sims: I've still been playing my medieval neighborhood, though my daughter has pretty much commandeered it. I'm thinking of starting a mutual legacy that is in the planning stages at simvention and/or starting a modified prosperity challenge.

December 18, 2008

Betrayed! Frost. Frost on the car windows. No one told me I would get frost in the bay area. Thankfully, I had the scraper (of Nebraska blizzards and ice storms) still in the trunk.

December 15, 2008

I don't believe it. I have finished my first semester in law school. I thought I would be over the moon. And I was really excited before and during my last final tonight. But now I'm just kind of numb. I suppose sitting on your butt for 4 hours and typing 14 pages will do that to you :).

I actually do have something new going on in my sims. I started a period/theme neighborhood that is actually starting to click for me. Over the next 4 weeks I'll surely have a bit of spare time to post some pics.

So what have all you been up to?

November 11, 2008

Some downloads! I just can't stay away from SimVention and their contests. First up, a maxis only contest that's still underway if you want to enter! It's not finished and polished on the outside but I may never get to that. I have all expansion packs + Kitchen and Bath.

Download Here!

Next up is a context from last month, building an apartment building for witches. This does have some custom content, walls and floors with one object, a shower, but if you use Clean Installer you can filter all those out without incident I expect. Each apartment is a studio apartment, identical in construction, different in theme. Landscaped but not decorated.

Also, I uploaded a bedding to simvention as part of the Custom Content Quickie (for OCT). Serene Autumn Splendor Bedding

I don't even know to express in words what this election means to me. If you look back to when I first posted my Simmers for Obama post, in January or February, you will get a glimpse of what I believe this could mean for this country. I believe again.

September 25, 2008

Like I suspected, law school pretty much takes up all my time. I did get Apartment Life and have spent a little bit of time checking it out, but not much. I miss building houses! And making recolors. My dh got Spore and wow, what a disappointment. It was kinda cool... for 2 hours. What a lot of hype and years to make it for.. not much fun. Will Wright might just not have the knack anymore. Sad.

August 6, 2008

I just haven't been able to get into playing any particular sims i.e. starting over. I've tried 3 different times to found a neighborhood that struck a chord. To console myself I bought Sims Castaway. It was kinda fun but so short! I played it through in just a few hours. And I'm moving in a week and have 5 kids so its not like I was just sitting at my computer playing. Overall, a disappointment due to its short playtime and lack of replayablilty.
